As a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist in Portland Oregon, Dr. Alexandria Nguyen-Johnson, ND, LAc promotes your wellbeing using a holistic and individualized approach that meets you where you are and supports your health goals.

EDUCATION & HEALING MODALITIES

Trained in primary care, Dr. Alexandria focuses on women’s health, hormone regulation, menopause, family medicine, pediatrics, weight management, thyroid disorders, skin conditions, and chronic illnesses.

Dr. Alexandria Nguyen-Johnson, ND, LAc received her Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Oregon, with an emphasis in plant ecology, developmental biology, and neurobiology. She also worked in the genetic research lab studying various mutations in zebrafish. She earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters in Acupuncture at the National College of Natural Medicine. While at NCNM, she focused on women’s health, thyroid disorders, pediatrics, IV therapy, and chronic conditions. In addition to the required naturopathic and Chinese medicine coursework, she completed a six-month externship in midwifery, pediatrics, and women’s health.

Naturopathic Physician

In the state of Oregon, naturopathic physicians are trained primary care providers. Licensed naturopaths are required to complete the same prerequisite training required by all medical schools in the United States, studying human physiology, clinical sciences, pathology, and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, naturopaths are also trained in botanical medicine, environmental medicine, IV therapies, diet and nutrition, hydrotherapy, nature cure, physical medicine, and energetic medicine.

Acupuncturist

Licensed Acupuncturists in Oregon, are required to complete a three or four year masters degree in Oriental Medicine or Acupuncture. Receiving training in all aspects of Chinese medicine, including theory, herbal medicine, nutrition, therapeutic massage, qi cultivation, in addition to acupuncture.

Food is medicine

Dr. Alexandria is an avid cook and has a passion for nature. She enjoys spending her free time in the garden, fly-fishing, hiking, camping, and being the best mom and aunt she can be to her daugther and two nephews. She is learning the art of sourdough bread baking and hopes to someday bake her own baguettes.
